Kansas City Plaza Lights- Thanksgiving to January 10, 2021

Kansas City MO., November 15, 2020- The holiday season is right around the corner! Kansas City will be keeping the 90-year long tradition of 15- block holiday lights in the Country Club starting on Thanksgiving at 6.pm. and will be broadcasted on KMBC 9.
This glorious festive event will bring people together to enjoy the joys that Kansas City brings every year with performances from Barnaby Bright, Casi Joy, the Kansas City Symphony, the Kansas City Ballet, and more. Accompanied by special guests Paul Rudd, Heidi Gardner, Buck O’Neil, Marcus Allen, Walter Cronkite, and Oleta Adams.
Kansas City tourist, Lindsey gave a review about the Country Club Plaza by saying, “They have a large variety of stores which makes holiday shopping easier…The best time of the year to visit is when the Christmas lights are up!” There are dozens of raving reviews of great memories made under the Plaza lights.
Alongside amazing visuals, all the Plaza shops will be open for extended hours during the holiday season. To keep Kansas City safe from COVID-19, large groups will not be permitted during the Thanksgiving event. The Country Club Plaza is encouraging distancing and consideration for others during the event.
A few sneak peeks into the magical evening:
- The tower lights are all one color
- The big switch-on stage at the Plaza Lighting Ceremony does turn on the lights
- A child will be selected from the crowd at random to help turn on the lights
- All of the Plaza’s parking garages are free and open to the public
After the Thanksgiving event, the lights will continue to glow until January 10, 2021, for all Kansas City citizens to enjoy anytime during the holiday season. We may be in hard times, but coming together for a yearly tradition that can give all visitors a smile.
